The first course on Mechanochemistry @ Unibo has come to an end. We are grateful to our guest teachers from Ireland, France, Russia, Israel, UK, Spain, Germany. Science without borders. Mechanochemistry is chemistry "benign by design" : using safer reagents or solvents, less toxic and non-toxic waste, limiting solvent use, hence the costs of their disposal, developing environmental friendly, energy-saving and cheaper processes.

I am humbled to share that, I presented my research work on Synchronization Analysis of Biomolecular Oscillators in the Poster form in Italian Regional Conference on Complex Systems held at University of Fadrico II Naples, Italy. Here I have used Contraction theory framework to derive sufficient conditions for Synchronization of Coupled Benchmark Biomolecular Dynamical Systems.

#OTD In 1928, Sir C.V. Raman announced the discovery of the 'Raman Effect' (a phenomenon of light scattering by atoms and molecules). For this, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930. To commemorate the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ the Government of India designated 28 February as #NationalScienceDay (NSD) in 1986. The idea behind this is to trigger science popularization activities throughout the country and to disseminate scientific education about the current issues of science and technology amongst the citizens of the country. On this occasion, theme-based science communication activities are also carried out. It is a moment of euphoria as CHAROTAR UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY has proudly clinched the "Promotion of University Research in Scientific Excellence (PURSE)" grant for 2023 by the Department of Science and Technology. This grant, amounting to a significant INR 8.51 crore, is a testament to our commitment to cutting-edge research and innovation.Under the umbrella of this award, CHARUSAT will embark on a transformative journey toward sustainable progress. The project is centered around the circular bio-economy principle, wherein waste materials will be converted into valuable, eco-friendly products. This not only addresses environmental concerns but also showcases the university’s dedication to finding impactful solutions.As part of the grant, CHARUSAT will be establishing state-of-the-art facilities, including Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), and in situ Raman equipment with electrochemical workstations.These advanced tools will empower researchers to delve deeper into scientific exploration, enabling them to contribute significantly to the academic and industrial landscape.#achievement #grant #research #proudmoment #charusat

Are you working on sustainable transitions? If so Svein Gunnar's work is something you should follow. For the last decade, he has been digging into how — exactly, concretely, in practice — designers should go about their work in / with sustainable transitions.There's a great word for this in Norwegian: Tilnærming. It gets translated as "approach" but for me, they just ain't the same. "Tilnærming" is how you think about things, what worldview you bring with you into your actions, and of course how you go about something, how you organize and conduct yourself while doing it. Super excited to see this PhD thesis defense! Not streamed, sadly.From the blurb:"The grand challenges of our time, such as Sustainability Transitions (ST) are non-linear, interdisciplinary and systemic."In such complex contexts, prescriptive or reductionist approaches are not sufficient in addressing the interconnected and emergent nature of societal transitions. "This thesis argues the need for a systemic praxeology for designers engaged with ST, beyond the dominant attention given to method- and tool-development. "This becomes critically important as designers and their designerly approaches are increasingly involved with systemic innovation."We now observe ambitious public-sector, and industry-wide innovation initiatives at the systems level, in which designers frequently take the role of facilitators and intermediaries."As such, systemic design practitioners must orient themselves in the vast landscape of transdisciplinary knowledge, while acknowledging the normative of transitions towards a long-term sustainable and just future.
